"I plan to fast for 12-14 days, in solidarity with the long term fasters, from November 6th in Canberra."
"I have been involved with community, environment, human rights, social justice and development organisations, as a volunteer. I am a co-founder and coordinator of a small NGO based at La Trobe University, in Melbourne called Equality Sustainability and Peace (ESP) Community. I am also part of Roots Maneuvers, a native forest protection advocacy group.
In addition to being part of countless peaceful demonstrations, I have participated in a native forest blockade against logging. I have been arrested for civil disobedience on a wood chipping facility, in protest against destructive logging of ancient forests in my country. I currently practice, and constantly look for new ways to lead, a low consumer, low carbon intensive lifestyle. I am a student of international development, and have an understanding of and great interest in, the profound inequality between people in the world.
I believe in and practice non violence, and non violent civil disobedience as the most powerful and least harmful method of effecting social change. I am inspired by thinkers like Gandhi-ji, Arundhati Roy, Arne Naess, and others who have wished for, and aspire toward a peaceful, more equal, non-destructive, ecologically and human centred political, social and economic system. I feel confident, positive and empowered by the opportunity CFJ is providing me, to use my body, non violently as a tool to demand climate justice from the most powerful people in the world, for all who share this planet, especially it’s most vulnerable human, animal and plant inhabitants."
