After B Mckibbens asked me to the other day I fast all of yesterday, with many others I’m sure.
I also presented a City College of New York CLIMATE JUSTICE PETITION signed by students from Dominican Republic, Bengladesh, Harlem and many other places- I presented the petition to Senator Charles Schumer of New York.

Way to go, guys! I know it is hard, but you can’t back down. The movement needs symbols and people willing to starve themselves will be rallying points for millions.
Life is a precious thing, not to be traded lightly. But can you imagine the personal satisfaction you would feel at knowing your image was emblazoned on millions of T-shirts. Or what about the next big Walk Against Warming?
How good would it be to see a demo led by a squad of activists in polar bear costumes, each one carrying a photo of a martyred hunger-striker!
To raise money, as life ebbs away, we can charge an “audience fee” for visitors to enjoy a “mini-fast” of, say, 30 minutes with a striker. They would always be able to boast that they had shared the company of a modern-day Gandhi or Mandela.
We’re ALL going to die if the temperature goes up 1.5 degrees , as peer-reviewed scientists have stated.
Paul Connor and the others, thank you for showing the way that awaits us all.

Our group, listed as Sonoma County Community Fast on the Climate Justice Fast website, has completed their one-day action in solidarity with this important global movement. The Redwood Empire Food Bank will be sending letters of thanks to Paul Connor, one of the organizers of Climate Justice Fast.
Our next step is to follow up by writing a letter to our local leaders this weekend, to report our action and the reason for it. The purpose for the letter is to help educate our leaders and to exhort them to support and/or engender local, state, national and global efforts to protect the climate. I will share the letter when the group has completed the editing process. Thanks to everyone for your efforts! This means so much to me, and most especially to those countries that will be most deeply affected by the terrible effects of climate change that are a direct result of our exploitation of this beautiful planet we call Earth.

Dear fasters,
With all my respect to those who are or want to join the fasting I say this: You may do so, and you may make news,In the end of the day you may die, you may get sick, but the politicians and the people who are going or are making money out of carbon credits don’t give a ‘Gas release” about it.
What it needs is a kind of action that makes them “feel” it. NOT VIOLENCE PLEASE, but be it a boicot, or a demo en masse, or a worldwide strike. Or pressure towards your political local rep. for legislation to minimize and prohibit carbon emissions.
Because the fact is, they are the ones destroying the trees and poluting, but in the end of the day they life e lush arborized areas, spent holidays in prestine Islands, and live where there is no polution. .

Thanks for this… you’ve inspired me to take action of my own.
BTW… can you tell me how I get to write on the blog? new to this world….. -
I am fasting today in support of your cause. Due to health concerns I will only be able to join you for one day, but I will keep you all in my heart today as we strive for real climate solutions through hunger and the sacrifice of our own bodies.
-
Was inspired to fast when the news of the majority of US was not backing Climate Action
-
Thanks for doing this on behalf of all of us. It is a courageous and powerful action. There are few people who can put their own bodies on the line to the degree that you have. It is inspiring.
