I just wanted to write to say thank you so very much to you and your friends for your courageous protest. You are such strong, incredible amazing people and I am so inspired and encouraged by you and your friends and your hunger for change. The fact that you still believe that it is possible for our world leaders to act with courage to co-create a global agreement is a glimmer of hope in a lost, dark world. I see that Kevin Rudd is now helping other world leaders cut through the crap of bureaucracy so that they can each make personal pledges of action on behalf of their respective nation states.
This morning I held 350 ppm and Kevin and Malcolm dinosaur signs at the Southern Cross Alliance’s Press Conference out the front of the Australian Coal Association in Canberra, Australia. I was so thrilled to see you guys there as well because I read a Greenpeace Report last year that said that our Federal Government pays nearly $63 million dollars in subsidises to coal producers. There is absolutely no climate justice in that !!!
It was so wonderful to hear the head of the Unions and the Head of the Climate Institute speak about Just Transitions. Some day real soon our globally leading mining companies will be find that it will be more profitable to leave the resources in the ground. Instead they will invest profits from soil bio-equestration and renewable energy to fund protection of old growth forests and transitions to indigenous stewardship enterprises. They will also support bio-sensitive people to catalyse and sustain the localisation and revitalisation of self-sufficient, self-reliant communities.
I believe that our global leaders have the strength, courage and intestinal fortitude to co-create a brave, new world economy and system of governance which:
a. ensures that our forests and ecosystems have EQUAL rights to the multi-national companies who have more power than nation states;
b. establishes a socially just carbon trading economy that expedites the reforestation of the planet and regeneration of her animal populations and ecosystems; and
c. ensures creative commons for ALL people to meet and share outlooks and ideas, wisdom and innovation, systems and technology.
Thank you for encouraging us all to continue this dialogue.
lots of love

Hi there,
are there data available on the savings on fasting on co2 emission and/or virtual water. Lets say: Fasting a day ( of a regular western diet) translates into how much CO2 savings or/and virtual water savings? thanks and best
Stefan

Hey Paul! (and everyone fasting!)
I wanted to let you guys know I’m thinking about you all and hoping the fast is going as well as can be expected. You all inspire me everyday to do something for change. Keep the faith; keep the fight.
Rock on Climate Justice Fast.

This action is clarifying the realities of climate change at a new and needed level. These courageous individuals are offering the world a glimpse of the human consequences of a completely avoidable potential future.
At this critical juncture, we must leverage our technology, money, political capability, and sense of humanity to decarbonize to a sustainable level.
Thank you for this action. And please be safe!

Taca is a french association commited to protect the climate. To be short, we are friends with 350.org and we ask to cut by 80% our CO2 emissions now.
Could you accept our support if we organise a “ring” of one day fast by volonteered members during the copenhague conference.
I have never fasted one full day, and I suppose it is the same with our taca members. It would be a very significant act for us, even if very small in comparison of the full fast of your 2 leaders.
Thank you for your answer.
In french phonectic, taca means “Just do it” and cut your CO2 emissions (we could add and FAST! more difficult to perform). -
Hi. Great job day 6!
I want to join in for the length of the 12 day summit, December 7th-18th. I tried to fill out a form but it said I need to join the website. I couldn’t figure that out. Well, you can count me in. It should be tough because I’m 5’7 and way 115 pounds, age 22.
Yet I plan on spreading the message about CJF as much as I can in New York City.God Speed,
Shannon Ayala

Go CJF Go!
This is going to inspire a lot of people to think about climate change and hopefully make a better place out of this planet we have

Many thanks!

Love to you. Your courage is wonderful. I have tweeted you a few times. Maybe we could use #climatefast to promote on twitter?
You are an inspiration.

Amazing to see such conviction and clarity! My thoughts and love are with you.

Let us concede the truth that given the emabarassement involved even if politicians going to Copenhagen do find out about the courageous act of CJF team, they will choose to remain ignorant about it.
The bottom line is we are on our own for now and we have to take charge of the situation and take matters in our own hands.
May power be with the bold girls and guys leading this movement to the higher levels.

Great action guys! I hope by your sacrifice people will realise the seriousness of the situation. I hope all the politicians going to Copenhagen find out about this courageous act and decide to be brave themselves and sign a binding agreement!
Good luck!

Oh my gosh, you are all so much in my heart! I felt guilty breaking my fast. Though I know my work with Quaker Earthcare Witness will honor your work as well and I’m committed to that work. By the way, QEW will have a presence in Copenhagen. I hope those there for QEW can have some connection with CJF folks who might be there. Please know you are held in the Light as you travel this dangerous road. You are amazing!

I have now added a commentary I made to the post of Anna and added it to the same page where I had posted a longer one to those of Sara under the title. Why is CJF team fasting for #ClimateJustice and the short URL is

I would love to chat with people who want to ask me questions they may do so at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) if they prefer MSN.
Hugs to all and let us all prosper together.

Hi AMAZING Climate Justice Fast! Team,
So proud of all of you! I did my first day of solidarity fasting on Friday, the start of the fast. So far, I have had at least one person from the group I’ve organized fasting every day since, and we will continue for as long as possible.
I love you guys all so much and am really proud of what you’re doing. This intense action you’re taking for such an important issue speaks out to everyone I talk with about it.
A small group of students (including one who was fasting) and myself went to Senator Leahy’s (D-Vermont) office today to lobby for a strong, science-based bill to be passed here in the USA before Copenhagen. We mentioned CJF, and it was included in the notes to be passed on to the senator himself. This just shows how much of an impact you’re making!
xox,

Dear Kim
It is so comforting to see you care this much for Anna, Paul, Sara, Diane and others whose names I am yet to learn. I would post brief bios of all these heroes of the biggest war of our times on my website cuddlendance.com The link to the CJF heroes is the last on the link list.It is already true that thousands of people are participating in this garrulously demanding but the powerful action in human history. They and by supporting them we all too are doing something incredibly courageous for Earth and its residents of all sorts. But I would remind everything that while we can all pat ourselves on our backs for being a part of this HUGE thing in one or the other it is bit too soon to be starting to distribute gratitudes because we are yet to get some results to celebrate about. The tragic news that today - 9 Nov 2009 DB Climate Advisors GHG counter reads- 3,647,025,299,299 tons up from 3,645,596,596,596 as of 3 Sep 2009 #ghg http://Cli.gs/ghg
It is impossible to deny that our dozen or so of heroes of the long-term fasting are inspiring lots of us to follow through with our principles and work on protecting this miracle that we live on. Not that the part of one day fasters is any less significant or less relevant. We all need to do megatons or gigatons of work to get the whole planet involved into this. Sadly we are a tiny and basically a negligible number. We have to become billions if not trillions. Let us move on that.
Fasters would sure inspire others and make people realise that the magnitude of the monster of a problem called Climate Change that we are up against and how urgent it is to fix it ASAP. Every hour of every day that goes by is making things worse. We sure do not have luxury of time so we better move fast on it. There is a scientific tipping point of some 5 years when we would be committing the planet to a doom or not. Let us make it NOT. We are not kidding here with trifles. We sure are dealing with a very serious matter of life and death, those deaths are not of thousands of people or even millions. Death toll from climate chaos can be in billions people. We would run out of place to bury the dead. That is how nasty this monster is . Greedy capitalists are going to try to continue to maintain the status quo of exploiting the poor where they starve to death in order to feed their greeds and slaving for them. Even the so called middle income people are not really in any good shape. We too are running our health and literally killing ourselves to feed the corporate greed. They are so used to those luxuries and riches that they would not easily part with them. They are going to try to crush our movements as they have done successfully through controlling the politicians and courts so far.
But if the consumers unite and offer a serious enough resistance they would have to bow down. Remember that billionaires are that way because the common people and labourers worked themselves to death to make them the billionaires. If we the consumers and worker unite we can stop that exploitive hyper-capitalistic system where the workers do not have the right to feed their children let alone insure them a decent living. Let us not dilute our agenda by bringing in issues that are not directly within the scope of the climate justice battle. Whether the war on terror is real or fake war is best left for another time. We have to focus totally and exclusively on the terror of the climate where even the so called extremists and guerrillas are not immune from the grips of climate change. We have to call them our brothers and even engage them in this war against climate change.
With respect to being very careful, the example of Julia Roberts in Pelican Brief comes to mind. Paul, Anna, Sara, Diane and all of these front line warriors/fighters are very precious to us and to our cause. We have to try to do our best to bring them home alive and well. But there is a small risk of threat from the enemy on their lives, which gets reduced by the fact that they are under constant surveillance and hopefully surrounded by supporters. We must not leave them alone to be exposed to harms of that kind. However in wars and battles soldiers do take the calculated risks but there are at time unfortunate casualties. That is what it really means to pay the price. But the honour of our heroes lies in paying the price and do whatever it takes to win. We cannot and must not ask them to step back. Not until the desired goal is met namely the four conditions that have been advanced are met. Let us join hands with them and stand beside them shoulder to shoulder so that their sacrifice meets the desired worth, no matter what the outcome of the risk that they are taking turn out to be. The focus has to be on the target. We must WIN!
Please feel free to write to me to collaborate on this project and follow me on twitter to stay updated on an hourly basis.

This is a necessary, courageous act. I am grateful and inspired.

This is the fourth and final day of our solidarity fast here in Portland, Oregon. Sara Monial and I have sat out in the cold and rain with our banner and thermos of hot water enjoying the many messages of support and spreading the word as best we can. We’ve been joined by at least three others doing one day fasts, and several more friends have come to sit with us.
Today we moved from the riverfront to the campus of Portland State University to reach more people, and it’s been going well. We’ll continue to spread the word of the courageous efforts of the long-term fasters throughout the campaign. Thanks to everyone who is bravely letting go of the seeming comfort of conventional habits and stepping forward into a life of beauty and compassionate action in response to the climate crisis, and all forms of greed and fear-induced suffering. May you all be sustained in great confidence, great perseverance, and great love.
